Concord Market Mezzanine

Easter Weekend at the Market was packed with all the good things!

We partnered with Laurie Grossman, owner of Ox Bow Decor, to host our first Spring event of the year—right here on the Mezzanine at Concord Market—an afternoon full of gorgeous florals, each transformed into a stunning Easter centerpiece. With 11 attendees, the workshop brought together a wonderful mix of creativity and skill levels.

Floral Arranging Tips

Laurie began the class with a simple setup: a ceramic vase, tape, and floral shears. The first task was to tape the top of the vase in a crisscross pattern, forming a practical grid. This clever trick gives each stem a place to rest, keeping arrangements balanced, full, and clump-free.

Next, attendees learned how to determine the height of their arrangement. By making a fist and placing their elbow on the table, they measured the ideal height—no taller than the combined length of forearm and fist. This ensures the centerpiece stays comfortable for conversation while sitting at the table.

Pro tip: The goal is to create an arrangement that belongs on the table all night—designed perfectly for the space.

Bringing Designs to Life

Now it’s time to start designing. Each person received a beautiful mixed bundle of flowers, featuring a variety of textures and colors, including carnations, daffodils, hyacinths, tulips, statice, wax flowers, asters, and solidago. For greenery and accents, we included Israeli ruscus, steel grass, and pussy willows—everything needed to create a full, dynamic arrangement.

As guests began arranging their stems, creativity flowed in every direction. Laurie encouraged everyone to play with color, texture, and height, offering tips along the way to help each arrangement feel balanced and lively. The atmosphere was full of laughter, experimentation, and quiet “aha!” moments as participants discovered little tricks to make their flowers shine.

By the end of the session, every arrangement was a unique reflection of each person's personality and style.

Bites and Sips

We paired this event with our signature wine tasting and a beautifully curated cheese board. As guests snipped and arranged their flowers, they sipped their way through a delightful selection:

  1. Bordeaux Blanc (Sauvignon Blanc & Sémillon), imported by Mary Taylor

This bright white wine comes from the Bordeaux region of France. It blends crisp Sauvignon Blanc with soft Sémillon, giving flavors of citrus, green apple, and a touch of honey.

It’s great with seafood, fresh salads, soft cheeses, and spring vegetables.

  1. Love You Bunches Rosé, Stolpman Vineyards, California

From California’s Santa Barbara region, this fun and fruity rosé is full of strawberries, watermelon, and a hint of flowers. Light and refreshing, it pairs well with summer fruits, light charcuterie, grilled veggies, or picnic-style snacks like sandwiches and deviled eggs.

With spring in mind, our talented catering team put together a light and fresh cheese board, featuring seasonal fruits, local cheeses, and a variety of tasty bites. It paired beautifully with the wines and felt bright, airy, and just right for Easter.

That's a Wrap!

And just like that, our event came to a close. Everyone left with arrangements they were truly proud of, and we were so grateful for all the wonderful feedback we received. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this joyful, creative celebration of flowers, fun, and Easter spirit. We can’t wait to bloom with you again at our next event! 🌸
